Prior experience as a Music Therapist working with children or young people, preferably in healthcare is required.

What you'll be doing
 
The Music Therapist will provide family centred clinical services to inpatients and/or outpatients referred to Music Therapy. 
The Music Therapist will provide a comprehensive Music Therapy service to the children, young people and families of the hospital. This service will be delivered through individual and group session in accordance with the principles and practices of Music Therapy and will include assessment and interventions as appropriate. 
The Level 3 Music Therapy will use their advanced professional knowledge and experience to support staff and to share in the growth and development of the department by: 

  • Planning, development and evaluation of Music Therapy services.
  • Development, implementation and evaluation of policies, procedures and practice guidelines for patient care.

About You
We’re looking for someone who:

  • Recognised Music Therapy Degree and registration with the national registration body the Australian Music Therapists Association (AMTA). Demonstrated advanced interpersonal and communication skills, with proven success in multidisciplinary team settings.
  • Sound understanding of child and young people’s development from 0-18, including the effects of stress and trauma in this population.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, implementation and evaluation of Music Therapy programs along with significant experience working with children and young people of varying ages.
  • In depth understanding of the impact of chronic illness on children, young people and their families and psychosocial strategies which can be put in place to assist with the maintenance and or development of resilience.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working as a Music Therapist in hospital/health care setting.
