About the role:

You will be working with InforMH - A team responsible for data development, collection, analysis and reporting for NSW public mental health and suicide related services, and the analysis and reporting of data from the NSW Suicide Monitoring System (SuMS). In this position of Senior Metadata and National Data Officer, you will work within a passionate team to directly support the NSW Health system and its services. You will provide strategic and operational leadership for metadata and establishments management within InforMH and be responsible for the day-to-day oversight and maintenance of key NSW Health metadata assets.
Health Manager Level 3 starting salary from $132,236- $150,222 plus Super, with a 38- hour work week.
What you’ll be doing
- Managing the collection, submission and validation of relevant National Minimum Data Sets (NMDSs), such as the Mental Health Establishments (MHE) NMDS.
- Maintaining appropriate data dictionaries and metadata for mental health and suicide including in the Health Information Resources Directory (HIRD).
- Managing and maintaining service registers such as the Mental Health Service Entity Register (MHSER) and the Mental Health Ward table and supporting their integration and transition into the Health Establishment Registration Online (HERO) and the Organisation Service Provider (OSP) tables in the EDWARD data warehouse, in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Identifying opportunities for both technical and information improvements and supporting related activities for the development of data standards, metadata and terminology.
- Preparing advice where issues arise in respect to reporting requirements, data integrity and/or data definitions and standards.
About you:
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:
- Suitable tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and demonstrated relevant industry experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of business processes in relation to mental health information collections across a range of care settings including inpatient, ambulatory and residential.
- Experience in data dictionary development, minimum data sets, data analysis and utilisation of online metadata repositories or master data services.
- Comprehensive and contemporary knowledge and understanding of State and National information standards, health metadata and data collections, and classification development, for the delivery of public health services.
- Demonstrated analytical/problem-solving skills and experience with a proven ability to anticipate, initiate and develop procedures to improve work practices, including the application of innovative or creative approaches to complex issues.
