About the opportunity


Make a meaningful impact across NSW—join NSW Health Pathology as a Senior Finance Business Partner with multiple opportunities available in both our Metropolitan and Regional networks.

The Senior Finance Business Partner is a trusted advisor to operational stakeholders, executive and clinical staff regarding all aspects of financial management. The role plays key part in collaborating with NSW Health Pathology operational leadership in shaping strategic outcomes and building and embedding critical financial processes, controls and reporting to support ongoing efficiency programs. The role will work closely with the Associate Director Financial Operations to build and embed best practice financial management and reporting as well as collaborative team structures, while growing a culture of business partnering across the organisation.  

We operate more than 60 laboratories and around 200 collection centres across NSW and conduct over 60 million tests per annum. Our network of pathologists are supported by scientists, technicians and support staff who quickly and accurately assess samples so clinical teams can make the best possible treatment decisions for patients. Our Forensic & Analytical Science Service provides independent, objective analysis to the NSW criminal and coronial justice systems.

What you'll be doing

In this role you will influence and support operational management to achieve the desired financial outcomes of the organisation. This includes planning, implementing and monitoring of governance structures to control and manage the use of financial resources and budgets.    
The role will partner with senior operational stakeholders to identify, manage and monitor sound financial controls and processes which deliver efficiencies and provides reliable and accurate financial information. This includes the collaborative development of the annual budget/business plan, efficiency improvement targets as well as the review and analysis of operating and financial results with key operational stakeholders.
 
The position works closely with the Associate Director Financial Operations, Senior Operations Managers and Local Pathology Directors to implement consistent and improved finance and business processes across NSW Health Pathology operational areas.

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications and relevant experience including current membership of a professional accounting body with a commitment to ongoing professional development
  2. Demonstrated strong business partnering experience in financial operations of a Health Service (or similar body)
  3. Demonstrated ability to develop business cases, enhancement proposals, business plans and briefs as well as monthly reporting of variation to budget including development of full year forecasts
  4. Demonstrated ability to meet strict deadlines, organise and prioritise high volume workloads
  5. Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills and experience in liaison and negotiation at all levels and with a wide range of stakeholders and experience in managing and leading organisational change
  6. Significant experience and skills using a recognised Financial Management Information System in a large organisation, such as Oracle Financial Management System and advanced user of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  7. Demonstrated ability to adopt, work by, model and promote the NSW Health Pathology RITE values of Respect, Integrity, Teamwork and Excellence
