About The Opportunity 
South Western Sydney Local Health District is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented Senior Exercise Physiologist to join the Growing Healthy Kids Paediatric Weight Management Service. We strive to provide an integrated and family-oriented approach to supporting children and young people who are above a healthy weight and to help them develop positive health habits. In this role, you will work within a supportive multidisciplinary team, including administrative staff, providing clinical support to junior Exercise Physiologists, supervising student placements, and collaborating across the team to deliver coordinated, holistic care for clients.

This is a temporary position with the opportunity to be extended or made permanent.

 

What You'll Be Doing
This position is responsible for providing client-centered and high-quality exercise physiology to clients in the Growing Healthy Kids (GHK) Paediatric Obesity Management Service, including providing tailored assessment and intervention and the facilitation of exercise programs for consumers of GHK in SWSLHD. This position involves managing individual consumers, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, supervising students and junior staff as appropriate, and participating in service improvement and ongoing professional development.

SWSLHD Primary & Community Health provides a comprehensive range of community-based services designed to improve and maintain the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities across South Western Sydney.

These services include prevention, early intervention, assessment, acute and post-acute treatment, health maintenance, and continuing care. The team supports diverse populations, offering specialised programs for children, young people, older adults, and at-risk communities.

With over 800 dedicated staff, including Aboriginal Health Workers, nurses, doctors, and allied health professionals, the service ensures high-quality care close to where people live.

How to Apply

  1. Recognised tertiary qualification in Exercise Physiology and eligibility for membership of Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA)
  2. Relevant clinical experience, including the management of a complex caseload and specialist knowledge in paediatrics and obesity management, or extensive experience and knowledge managing a broad range of chronic diseases.
  3. Demonstrated ability to prescribe and deliver tailored exercise programs for children and their families, supporting engagement and long-term health outcomes.
  4. Demonstrated experience and knowledge in service development, quality improvement, and the application of evidence-based practice within the field of exercise physiology.
  5. Experience in clinical supervision of students and staff.
  6. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's licence. Those who hold a C class licence from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class licence within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
