About the Opportunity 
An exciting opportunity is available to head up the Environmental Health team at our Liverpool Office as the Senior Environmental Health Officer. You will undertake, and oversee, a range of Environmental Health duties and activities in an expanding and developing part of Sydney.

What You'll be Doing
Facilitate, implement and monitor environmental health tasks undertaken by the team related to the Public Health Act 2010, Public Health Regulation 2022 and other legislation, and contribute to emergency management in the Local Health District.

Activities relate to legionella control, public swimming pools, skin penetration, the funeral industry, on-site wastewater management, general hygiene and emergency management. There may be some actions related to tobacco and e-cigarette control, and smoke-free environments.

Co-ordinate, facilitate, implement and monitor environmental health tasks related to the Public Health Act 2010, the Public Health Regulation 2022, Public Health (Tobacco) Act 2008 and the Smoke-free Environment Act 2000, and other legislation and emergency management in the Local Health District. Such activities relate to the areas of legionella control, public swimming pools, skin penetration, funeral industries, on-site wastewater management, tobacco and e-cigarette control, smoke-free environments, general hygiene and emergency management.

How to Apply

  1. A degree or equivalent in Science in Environmental Health.
  2. Significant experience in managing a range of Environmental Health issues, particularly health risk assessment and environmental management and knowledge of relevant public health legislation.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to cultivate relationships with stakeholders.
  4. Experience in managing staff.
  5. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
