About the role:

You will be working with InforMH – A team responsible for data development, collection, analysis and reporting for NSW public mental health and suicide related services, and the analysis and reporting of data from the NSW Suicide Monitoring System (SuMS). In this position of Senior Data Analyst, you will work within a passionate team to directly support the NSW Health system and its services in using data to make informed decisions and to improve care.
Health Manager level 3, starting salary from $127,150 – $144,444 plus Super, with a 38-hour work week.
What you’ll be doing
- Developing data analysis strategies, measures and indicators to meet priorities for NSW Health mental health and suicide related programs and projects.
- Reviewing, revising and technically specifying mental health and suicide related key performance indicators (KPIs) and Improvement Measures (IMs).
- Planning and conducting complex analysis of mental health and suicide related data using contemporary data manipulation and statistical tools.
- Designing, developing, testing and implementing systems to monitor, evaluate and improve the delivery of quality mental health and suicide related services through clinical benchmarking and varied performance and reporting activities undertaken by InforMH.
- Preparing high level reports interpreting and summarising analyses and findings and providing expert advice and support to colleagues and stakeholders with regards to data analysis issues.
About you:
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:
- Qualifications and experience: Suitable qualifications and extensive demonstrated industry experience in the analysis and reporting of health data, focused on clinical data to examine performance and outcomes of health care (not limited to clinical costing, services resourcing and workforce).
- Technical knowledge: Knowledge and experience in the use of statistical software packages, high level programming languages, relational databases and related software for manipulation, analysis and reporting of information such as Microsoft Excel, Access, SAS, SQL or other related (e.g. R, Python, Power BI, SSIS, Microsoft365).
- Capacity to think flexibly and creatively: Extensive analytical/problem-solving skills and experience with a proven ability to anticipate, initiate and develop procedures to improve work practices with an aptitude to use a creative approach to identified issues.
- Relationship skills: Excellent interpersonal, consultation and negotiation skills, in order to effectively manage interactions with key internal and external stakeholders. Ability and experience working independently and as a team member in a multi-disciplinary team environment to meet project plans, deadlines and goals.
- Communication ability: Superior written and oral communication skills and the capacity to prepare, deliver and present high quality analysis, reports and briefs.
