About The Opportunity
This role is an exciting opportunity to lead the nutrition care within the Liverpool Hospital Intensive Care Unit as the Senior Critical Care Dietitian.

The Liverpool Hospital ICU is a 40 bed level 6 tertiary teaching ICU. Liverpool ICU provides world-class Intensive Care and has significant interests in research, quality,  safety and environmental sustainability.

As the dietitian in this unit, opportunities include:
  • Managing daily nutrition care for admitted patients to the ICU in collaboration with the ICU
  • Support in either participation or leading research and quality activities within the ICU
  • Dietitian lead of the Liverpool Hospital wide Parenteral Nutrition Team
  • Nutrition related service development within the ICU
  • Consultancy across SWSLHD as the lead ICU service within the district

As a senior dietitian within the Liverpool Hospital Dietetics team, the position also has opportunities to contribute to:

  • Student and staff supervision
  • Team leadership roles
  • Teaching and training – dietitians, nurses, medical officers, student dietitians


This position will suit a clinician who has demonstrated knowledge and skills in a broad range of clinically complex areas, along with excellent organisational and communication skills.

As a member of the Liverpool Hospital Dietetics team, the successful applicant will have access to a supportive workplace for their growth and development within the role and further to their career, with access to regular CPD opportunities and a clinical supervision program. 


What you'll be doing
This position is responsible for providing patient centred and high quality nutrition services to clients, including providing nutritional care to patients as per caseload; provide and participate in education and evaluation; supervise students and Level 1-2 dietitian as appropriate; and participate in ongoing professional development. 

Where You'll Be Working
Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.

The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.

Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.

Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the University of NSW and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.

Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries.

  1. Post graduate qualification or Bachelor in Nutrition and Dietetics as recognized by the Dietitians Association of Australia.
  2. Relevant clinical experience include advanced practice skills and management of complex case load. 
  3. Experience and knowledge in service and quality improvement 
  4. Demonstrated ability in clinical support students and/or staff 
  5. Demonstrated commitment to con professional development and evidence based
