The Prince of Wales Hospital is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Dietitian to work in the specialty area of Spinal Injuries, including acute and rehabilitation inpatients and the Spinal Pressure Care Clinic.  This position is also responsible for nutrition and dietetic services to Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospitals.

The team comprises nineteen dedicated dietitians ranging from new graduate to experienced clinical specialists. As a team we are committed to ensure that the nutrition care of patients and clients are at the forefront of service delivery. The POWH is a quaternary referral and teaching hospital - a great place to develop your career.  It is located in Randwick, in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. The hospital is undergoing redevelopment and has just opened a new acute services building. The hospital is accessible via a light rail service which stops right outside the main entrance, along with a range of bus services.The Role

Plan, coordinate, and implement in-depth levels of clinical expertise and extensive specialised knowledge within Nutrition and Dietetics in order to provide high quality Dietetic care to patients consistent with NSW Health, South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) policies, procedures and standards.

Your focus will be on providing quality person centred care to patients of the Spinal Unit and to Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospital.

As a senior dietitian in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics you will be actively involved in quality improvement, service review and development activities. All senior staff are involved in clinical supervision of early career dietitians, dietitian assistants and students.
  1. Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award
  2. Extensive post graduate clinical experience in Nutrition and Dietetics
  3. Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels
  4. Ability to provide in-depth advice and education to enhance service delivery and to guide and support others in providing service excellence, with the capacity to provide clinical supervision to other staff
  5. Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature
  6. Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff
  7. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing clinical and professional learning
