Population and Community Health (PaCH) is part of South Eastern Sydney Local Health District.
PaCH provides community health services that give care to individuals, families and carers, as well as population health services that focus on the whole community or key groups within the community.
PaCH's services are provided at the District's hospitals, community-based facilities including child and family health centres, community health centres and specialist clinics. We work with other service providers across South Eastern Sydney Local Health District, including hospitals and mental health services.
The Role
SESLHD’s Sexual Health and Blood Borne Virus Service (SHBBV) provide leadership, innovation and research in the sector. Services within SHBBV are involved in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of Sexually Transmissible Infections (STIs) and blood borne viruses at an individual and population level within SESLHD, as well as four statewide services.
The purpose of the role is to plan, coordinate and deliver high quality culturally sensitive care to people attending Kirketon Road Centre (KRC), especially those from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background, consistent with SESLHD policies, procedures and standards.
The role demonstrates in-depth levels of clinical expertise and extensive specialised knowledge within Aboriginal & Torres Strait Island communities, homelessness and drug and alcohol to provide high quality counselling and case management care to clients of the KRC.

Selection Criteria
- Be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent (an applicant’s race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14(d) of the Anti-discrimination Act 1977.
- Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award. Counselling: must hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree deemed eligible to meet the membership of for the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) at the level of bachelor. Senior Psychologist: Recognised 4-year degree in Psychology, along with full registration with AHPRA and min 8 years’ experience post full registration.
- Extensive clinical experience in social work, counselling, psychology or case management including working with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Island clients who have experienced intergenerational and complex trauma and demonstrates a commitment to ongoing clinical and professional learning.
- Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels and promote a cohesive team.
- Demonstrated ability to provide in-depth advice and education to enhance service delivery and to guide and support others in providing service excellence, with the capacity to provide support to other staff.
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities.
- Current NSW driver’s licence and willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position.
