Where you'll be working
Cumberland Hospital, the largest mental health facility in NSW and the oldest in Australia, is supported by a skilled Security Team dedicated to maintaining safety and security for all. Primary responsibilities include:
- Protect staff, patients, visitors, and property through patrols and risk assessments.
- Responds to emergencies and collaborates with key stakeholders like police and clinicians.
- Operates and audits security equipment, including alarms and access systems.
- Ensures compliance with policies, legislation, and NSW Health standards.
- Drives continuous improvement in service quality while upholding integrity and CORE values.
What you'll be doing
Security Officers play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of staff, patients, visitors, and assets within the Western Sydney Local Health District. Their responsibilities include maintaining a safe environment, responding to emergencies, and adhering to policies and standards.
- Conduct patrols, monitor CCTV and alarms, and mitigate security risks.
- Respond to emergency codes, including fire and medical situations.
- Collaborate with clinicians, police, and emergency services to ensure safety.
- Operate and audit security equipment while maintaining compliance with regulations.
- Uphold integrity, discipline, and the CORE values of NSW Health.

Essential Requirements
Qualification: Current Senior First Aid Certificate
Selection Criteria
- Licensed according to the Security Industry Act 1997 Current NSW Security Licence Class 1A.
- Current Senior First Aid Certificate
- Current Drivers Licence valid within Australia.
- Demonstrate intermediate level computer operating skills e.g. through experience with contemporary electronic security alarm monitoring systems (Access building control, CCTV surveillance, data entry, and Radio communications).
- Customer service skills with a high degree of personal integrity and motivation and willingness and ability to carry out tasks of a physical nature as described in Job Demand List
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, follow directions and work without close supervision.
- Sound communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution and report writing skills. Skills related to escalating a problem to the appropriate line of management
