What you'll be doing
This role will coordinate primary prevention initiatives, provide early support for children and families to address behaviours when they are first identified, and coordinate pathways into specialist counselling services for children and families who need them. This program has been specifically designed to support children under the age of 10 years who have displayed problematic or harmful sexual behaviours (PHSB).
Selection Criteria
- Degree in Social Work or Bachelor degree in Counselling or Psychology or related field as per NSW Health Service Health Professionals award, and/or eligibility for registration with AHPRA or AASW or completion of the ECAV pathway, with demonstrated cultural expertise.
- Demonstrated ability to provide culturally responsive counselling services to individuals and their families. Including the ability to create Aboriginal community connections, engagement and collaboration to affect outcomes with an understanding of intergenerational trauma, contextual and causal factors for violence, abuse and neglect and the principles of cultural safety.
- Demonstrated understanding and skills in child centered, family focused counselling, support and case management to address problematic or harmful sexual behaviours with young children and their carers.
- Demonstrated understanding of the legal and policy framework governing child protection in NSW.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills in combination with a demonstrated ability to work as part of a small therapeutic team.
- Demonstrated experience participating in and/or leading of quality improvement activities and service development and evaluation.
- Demonstrated commitment to clinical and cultural supervision and professional education and experience in providing clinical supervision.
- Evidence of a current Class C driver licence and the ability and willingness to travel for work purposes. This may involve driving long distances with the Health Service.
