About Us
Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) is an exceptional environment to advance your career while enhancing your skills and expertise. As a recognised leader in the healthcare industry, we deliver a comprehensive range of public health services across the Nepean, Blue Mountains, and Lithgow Regions.
The Primary Care and Community Health Unit consists of 9 centres that provide a range of services for children, young people and their families, adults, older people and their carers. Our services range from health promotion, prevention and early detection through to assessment, treatment and continuing care. Our staff work in partnership with schools, GPs, hospitals, non-government agencies and other organisations to provide care across our centres, in people’s homes, other community venues as well as virtual care (telehealth).
Our Safe Wayz team is offering a unique multi‑level role open to candidates with a range of experience who are committed to developing specialist skills in supporting children with problematic and harmful sexualised behaviours (PHSB). Professional development is provided, and applicants with broader child and family experience are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating cross‑sector care for children under 10 with PHSB, working closely with their families, communities and partner agencies. Safe Wayz uses a strengths‑based, family‑focused and culturally centred trauma‑informed approach. The role includes coordinating pathways into specialist counselling services and holding a small clinical caseload.
Safe Wayz also leads primary prevention initiatives, providing education to children, families, schools, carers, community groups and professionals about PHSB and developmentally appropriate behaviours. This involves building community capacity to identify and understand PHSB, collaborating with partner agencies, offering consultation and training, and advocating for system and practice improvements. Clinicians also support cultural consultation processes to assist non‑Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander staff working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander families. This position additionally participates in a 24/7 crisis response service, supporting Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District to deliver integrated psychosocial and medical responses to victims of sexual assault.
Position classification level and responsibilities will be aligned to experience, and a detailed overview of expectations for each level is available on request. We also welcome interested applicants to contact us for an informal conversation about the role. If you are passionate about supporting children and families, we invite you to learn more about the role and apply today!
