The Role
The Research Assistant/Officer will provide operational, technical, and administrative support to research studies conducted within the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department at St George Hospital in SESLHD. The role is responsible for supporting research project activities including ethics applications, data collection and entry, study coordination, and stakeholder engagement. The position contributes to the quality and integrity of health and medical research and ensures compliance with governance and funding requirements.

Selection Criteria
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in health, medical science, social science, public health, or a related discipline; or relevant equivalent work experience or a combination of study and work experience
- Demonstrated knowledge and appreciation of the processes of health and medical research, including ethics and governance submissions, participant recruitment, and data collection
- Demonstrated ability to work independently or as part of a team in performing a range of management and administrative tasks within allocated timeframe
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with key stakeholders.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare research documentation, accurate reports, Newsletters, NHMRC reports, governance applications, and study materials
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt work practices to meet current and emerging business needs
- Current drivers licence (with a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position
- Demonstrated ability to determine priorities for others and delegate tasks to achieve work objectives.
