What you'll be doing
Westmead Hospital is one of the leading institutions for recruitment of patients into national and international multi-centre clinical trials. The Intensive Care department has a good record of enrolling participants into ANZICS-CTG endorsed and NHMRC funded Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Studies.
 
The Research Coordinator’s role is to promote and co-ordinate research activity within the Intensive Care Service under the direction of the Director of Intensive Care Service and the Clinical Lead Specialist assigned to oversee research. This role includes the assessment and evaluation of potential research program participants to determine if they are eligible for the programs’ various research projects. The research coordinator will also be responsible for the evaluation of new research programs in liaison with the research clinical lead specialist and the smooth implementation of new projects into the Intensive Care Service. The role also includes provision of ongoing education for study participants and the multi-disciplinary Intensive Care team.

Essential Criteria:

Registration: Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse

Selection Criteria:

  1. Current Registered Nurse registration with AHPRA. Post Graduate qualifications in nursing research, Critical Care Nursing or similar experience and expertise. Previous experience in medical research with knowledge of clinical trials, patient recruitment and ethical considerations.
  2. Excellent oral and written communication, coaching and facilitation skills, with ability to demonstrate attention to detail
  3. •Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of word, excel and the use of hospital-based information technology systems.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work independently and use initiative as well as to work within a multi-disciplinary team.
  5. Effective interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients.
  6. Excellent time management and organisation skills with attention to detail.
  7. Understanding of the management of patient complaints and patient privacy.
  8. Demonstrated skill in the analysis of complex issues, problem solving, formulating new approaches and implementing comprehensive change programs and improvement strategies, including the ability to develop and monitor outcomes.
