With your skills and experience, you can contribute to the millions of ways we're enriching health, and develop your career as part of the largest health organisation in Australia.

Achieve Something Great
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated midwife with an interest in obstetric care and clinical research to join our South Western Sydney Obstetric Research Group. As part of our services for pregnant women, we are involved in several clinical implementation and research studies aimed at ensuring high-quality maternity care for women across the SWSLHD. This role is essential for collecting blood samples and swabs, ensuring the clinic can accommodate a higher volume of patients for research purposes. Recruitment to this position will support ongoing research activities and contribute to the continued growth of our biobank. This role offers an exciting opportunity to enhance your specialist skills, contribute to meaningful research, and be involved in multidisciplinary education.

Are You the Right Fit?
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail and be confident navigating key hospital systems including eMR, Microsoft Office, and SharePoint. Additional midwifery skills—such as venepuncture, cannulation, or performing speculum examinations—are highly valued. This role stands out for its unique opportunity to work across the entire SWSLHD district within maternity services, requiring a P2 licence or above. Day‑to‑day, the position involves clear and professional communication across multiple platforms (email, Microsoft Teams, phone, and SMS), obtaining patient consent, and effectively coordinating project activities within the research team. The successful applicant will be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively to support high‑quality research and service delivery.

Selection Criteria
To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.

  • Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, families, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs.
  • Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of evidenced based midwifery care.
  • Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
