About The Opportunity
Ward K3 is a 32-bed inpatient ward within the Maternity and Gynaecology Service at John Hunter Hospital, caring for women with gynaecological, gynae-oncology and other surgical and medical needs. On a day-to-day basis, you will work within a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering high-quality care to women throughout their admission.
Our team includes:
- Registered Nurses
- Registered Enrolled Nurses
- Clinical Midwife Consultants
- Assistants in Nursing
- School Based Trainees
The team works closely alongside medical teams, allied health professionals and support services to provide coordinated, patient-centred care. The ward environment provides opportunities to develop skills in perioperative care, post-operative recovery, complex discharge planning and women’s health nursing, while working within a supportive team that values collaboration, learning and professional development.
In this role, you will deliver safe, compassionate and person-centred care to women across a range of surgical specialties. The position offers a varied and enriching clinical experience, with opportunities to work across gynaecology, gynae-oncology and other surgical and medical care streams as service needs require. As part of the K3 team, you will contribute to a culture that is well recognised for providing high-quality care and strong team collaboration.
Key Responsibilities Incude but not limited to:
Deliver efficient, person-centred nursing care that supports the needs of women and their families
Advocate for patients and support informed decision-making regarding their care
Ensure patients understand clinical interventions and care processes
Coordinate discharge planning and make appropriate referrals
Support and mentor staff and students within the clinical environment
