Registered Nurse – Emergency Department
Mudgee Health Service

About the role

Mudgee Emergency Department gives you about as much emergency action as you can get in a regional hospital — high presentations, varied acuity, 24/7 onsite medical support and the lifestyle pull of one of NSW’s best-known regional tourist towns.

With 16,839 presentations in 2025, Mudgee ED offers the pace, variety and patient mix to keep developing your emergency nursing capability. You will see the breadth of emergency care, supported by a team that works closely across the hospital and takes pride in providing responsive, compassionate care for the local community.

One of Mudgee ED’s key advantages is the level of clinical support around you. Doctors are onsite 24/7, giving nurses direct medical backup at any time of day or night. You are part of a team where the medical officer is right there with you, providing confidence and support during busy or complex shifts.

Mudgee ED is also a great learning environment. The department regularly welcomes students and new staff, so teaching, orientation and support are part of the rhythm of the team. Staff describe the workplace as open, welcoming and positive, with nurses who enjoy variety, support new team members and take pride in helping people build confidence.

For nurses wanting career variety, Mudgee Health Service offers opportunities to broaden your experience across other areas of the hospital where service needs and individual interests align. Staff have worked across ED and theatres, maternity, inpatient care and ambulatory care, creating opportunities to build new skills while keeping emergency nursing as your base.

Mudgee Health Service is a modern regional hospital, opened in 2020, with services including emergency, general medical and surgical care, maternity, perioperative services, ambulatory care, renal dialysis, oncology and medical imaging.

About Mudgee

Mudgee is one of NSW’s best-known regional lifestyle destinations, with wineries, cafes, restaurants, countryside, events and a genuine community feel. It is the kind of place people visit for a weekend — but here, you can build your career and enjoy it every day.

Outside work, there is plenty happening: food and wine, cycling events, rodeo, community sport, family activities, Glen Willow Regional Sports Stadium, major sporting events and a busy local events calendar. Whether you are making a tree change, moving with family, joining a partner already working locally or looking for a regional town with energy and personality, Mudgee offers more than just a job.

Relocation support may also be available through the NSW Government’s Welcome Experience, a free service supporting eligible essential workers and their families as they settle into regional NSW, including help with housing, childcare, partner employment and community connections.
