Where You’ll Be Working
Tamworth Community Health Service provides a vital community-based healthcare setting within the Hunter New England Local Health District. It delivers a range of multidisciplinary health services aimed at supporting individuals, families, and the broader community to achieve better health outcomes.
The service works closely with Tamworth Hospital and other health partners to ensure coordinated, accessible, and patient-centred care across the continuum of health services.
How You’ll Contribute
Provide safe, compassionate, and culturally respectful nursing care to people accessing ambulatory withdrawal services. Conduct assessments, care planning, withdrawal management, and aftercare support, while collaborating with patients, families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams to promote recovery and positive health outcomes.
Work closely with Hunter New England Drug & Alcohol Clinical Services and Tamworth Aboriginal Medical Service to ensure continuity of care, support culturally safe practice, and improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
About You and Your Impact in This Role
As a Registered Nurse, you will provide safe, person-centred, and culturally respectful care to individuals undergoing ambulatory withdrawal. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across Hunter New England Drug & Alcohol Clinical Services and Tamworth Aboriginal Medical Service, you will deliver assessment, care planning, withdrawal management, and aftercare support to promote recovery and continuity of care.
You will maintain accurate documentation, escalate clinical concerns appropriately, support patient and family education, and uphold NSW Health standards, including a commitment to culturally safe practice and improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
You will also:
- Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care across the full ambulatory withdrawal continuum, including assessment, monitoring, care planning, and aftercare support
- Recognise and respond promptly to changes in a patient’s clinical condition, ensuring timely escalation and coordination with acute and multidisciplinary services as required

Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
