Mental Health Drug & Alcohol, Dubbo

About the role
Working in community Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm, this role offers great autonomy, and you will experience a wide range of presentations. Day-to-day tasks include mental health assessments, crisis intervention, acute assessment in emergency situations, care planning, and case management for adult clients with severe and complex mental health needs, delivering intensive support in a community setting.

Our senior staff and educators have a ‘doors open’ policy, so are readily available to provide you with the right information or support to make decisions and referrals.  You’ll work with the educator’s one on one until you find your feet, and as we look out for each other in the bush, your peers (a team of dedicated staff) will always have your back and are only a call or teams meeting away.

We are a District that thrives on innovation and you will be encouraged to bring your ideas forward to develop our service.  Recent examples of our innovation include the ‘Yarning space’ and improving the inpatient discharge process to transition to in community supports.  Team members are regularly invited to present projects in Sydney to a broader health team.  You’ll also be supported with continuing education and our focus on research gives you many opportunities to pursue interests in this area.

You will have the opportunity to make a tangible difference to some of Australia’s most vulnerable populations, including First Nations people. Given the challenges of accessing rural services, this position offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute significantly to mental health care in a rural setting. You will find both professional and personal satisfaction in knowing that your work has a direct and positive impact on the wellbeing of individuals and their communities.
