About the Opportunity
Join the Western Newcastle Community Nursing team and make a genuine impact in the lives of people across the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie communities. This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join a highly supportive, nurse-led service that values collaboration, innovation, and ongoing professional growth. Based in Wallsend, you will work 8:00am to 4:30pm, with a set roster covering two weekends per month. In this rewarding community-based role, you will deliver person-centred, evidence-based care to individuals and families in their homes, supporting them to maintain independence, wellbeing, and quality of life. As a Community Registered Nurse, you will enjoy variety and autonomy while expanding your clinical skills across areas including wound care, medication management and IV therapy, continence support, PEG tube management, intercostal drain care, diabetes education, and palliative care in collaboration with the Mater Hospital Palliative Care team. You will be supported by experienced mentors, Nurse Practitioners, and Clinical Nurse Specialists within a collaborative multidisciplinary team environment. Comprehensive orientation, ongoing professional development, and a structured transition pathway into Community Nursing are all provided to support your success. This role is ideal for nurses who are passionate about holistic care, enjoy working independently, and value building meaningful relationships within the community. While Community Nursing experience is highly regarded, Registered Nurses with a minimum of 12 months’ experience are warmly encouraged to apply.

✅ Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
✅ Eligibility to drive in NSW and the ability and willingness to travel for work purpose
✅ Motivated and adaptable Registered Nurse with a genuine passion for community care
✅ An understanding of palliative care principles and experience supporting clients in the home setting
✅ Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
