Campbelltown ED is one of the busiest emergency departments in the region, providing care across the full spectrum of emergencies—from paediatrics, mental health, and acute medical presentations. The department is unique because of its mix of clinical specialties and the opportunity to develop advanced skills in resuscitation, triage, paeds, critical decision-making, and patient flow management. Nurses here play a vital role in delivering safe, timely, and compassionate care in a fast-paced environment. 

The department includes:

•Children’s Short Stay Unit (CSSU)
•Children’s emergency 
•Fast track
•Acute pod
•Mental Health Pod
•5-bedded Resus
•Aged Care Pod
•16-bedded Emergency Short Stay Unit (ESSU)

Key features that make Campbelltown ED unique include:

•Robust induction and transition programs for Emergency Nursing, with dedicated educational support.
•Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) development group to support career progression.
•Multidisciplinary resus skills education days, including airway and resuscitation procedure training alongside medical staff.
•ED Nursing Education Fund, providing discounted APLS positions and future opportunities for nursing education and research.
•ED Paediatric Skills and Procedures Day.
•12-hour shifts (if relevant) for continuity of care and work-life balance.
•Wellbeing Committee to promote staff wellness.
•Exposure to a mix of metropolitan and rural sites.
•Daily multidisciplinary SIM and airway drills.

•Strong clinical knowledge in emergency, acute, and specialty areas (paediatrics, mental health, aged care)

•Effective communication and teamwork
•A proactive approach to professional development and leadership, with the ability to engage in pod coordination, ESSU navigation, and broader departmental initiatives.
