Where you'll be working 
Join the Acacia Unit at Cumberland Hospital, an adult mental health rehabilitation unit providing recovery-focused care for adults aged 18 years and over. This 20-bed acute locked unit supports involuntary patients through evidence-based treatment, therapeutic engagement and multidisciplinary collaboration to help consumers achieve meaningful recovery outcomes.

Cumberland Hospital, part of Western Sydney Local Health District, is NSW's largest and Australia's oldest mental health facility. What you'll be doing 
As a Registered Nurse, you will deliver high-quality, evidence-based mental health care that promotes consumers' psychological, physical and emotional wellbeing. Working collaboratively with consumers, families and the multidisciplinary team, you'll provide safe, compassionate care that supports recovery, independence and improved health outcomes.

• Deliver comprehensive mental health assessments, care planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based nursing care.

• Build therapeutic relationships with consumers, families and carers to support recovery and ongoing clinical review.

• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate treatment, achieve positive consumer outcomes and promote wellbeing.

• Maintain accurate clinical documentation while ensuring compliance with professional, legislative and organisational standards.

• Participate in quality improvement, professional development, clinical supervision and initiatives that strengthen service excellence.

Essential Requirements:

Registration: Current Registration as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) 

Selection Criteria:

1. Registered Nurse who has completed a new graduate RN program or experience working as a Registered Nurse

2. Demonstrated experience working with people presenting with an acute mental health problem

3. Demonstrated advanced reasoning skills with proven ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team within minimal direct clinical supervision

4. Proven effective high level written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and ability to exercise independent professional judgement when solving problems

5. Working knowledge of the NSW Mental Health Act 2007

6. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with consumers and carers regarding mental health care

7. An understanding of the recovery philosophy and trauma informed care in Mental Health and the ability to implement these within clinical practice

8. Current NSW drivers licence
