Make a Difference in Paediatric Care

Join the J1 Paediatric Oncology & Surgical Unit at John Hunter Children's Hospital and be part of a team delivering compassionate, family-centred care to children and young people requiring tertiary surgical and oncology services.

J1 is a dynamic 19-bed inpatient unit caring for children with acute, chronic and complex health needs. You'll work alongside a supportive multidisciplinary team, caring for a diverse patient cohort while developing your clinical skills in a rewarding and collaborative environment.

From day one, you'll be supported with a structured supernumerary orientation, ongoing education and mentorship, and opportunities to continue growing your career—all while making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and their families.


About You

We're looking for a compassionate, motivated and adaptable Registered Nurse who is passionate about delivering exceptional paediatric care within a family-centred model.

You will bring:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • Experience in paediatric and/or oncology nursing (or a strong interest in developing these skills).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with children, families and the multidisciplinary team.
  • A commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centred care.
  • Flexibility to work across a 24-hour, 7-day rotating roster, including day, afternoon and night shifts.
  • A positive attitude, willingness to learn and commitment to ongoing professional development.
