Selection Criteria:

  1. Current registration as a Registered Midwife with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) and agreement to participate in the Pilot Model Annualised Salary Agreement for Midwifery Group Practices.
  2. Current NSW Drivers Licence.
  3. Demonstrated high level written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others and proven ability to use health information systems.
  4. Demonstrates an understanding and knowledge of continuity of care based on primary maternity care principles, and a woman centered philosophy of childbirth as a transformative part of families lives.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, engaging with families and relevant key stakeholders, applying professional and ethical boundaries and escalating appropriately when dealing with complex situations.
  6. Detailed knowledge and understanding of risk management, safety and quality principles and the role of the Registered Midwife in applying these principles within the maternity services setting.
  7. Demonstrates accountability, competence, proficiency, and responsibility for own midwifery practice related to lactation and infant feeding consistent with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council competency standards for midwives, NSW Health Breastfeeding Policy and the BFHI Principles.
