Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides tertiary referral services in emergency care, coronary care, diagnostics, gynaecology, paediatric, neonatal intensive care/ICU, maternity, mental health, rehabilitation, and surgery. Are you a passionate and experienced Midwife who will ensure optimal outcomes for Aboriginal women and their families within our community through promotion of best practice including the appropriate escalation of care and will work collaboratively utilising effective team communication with members of the multidisciplinayr health team in the planning, implementation, assessment and evaluation of patient care.

As a Registered Midwife you will act as an advocate for the specific needs of all women and their families including those from the indigenous population or other multi-cultural groups providing appropriate care to the woman undergoing specialised procedures and will maintain and promote a professional standard evidenced by ethical midwifery practice, adherence to the policies and procedures of the Nursing and Midwifery Service, NBMLHD and the appropriate legislation and statutory regulations

What you will bring to the role: 

  1. Current Registration to practice as Division 1 Registered Midwife with AHPRA and hold a Current NSW driver's licence
  2. Demonstrated recent experience and clinical skill in midwifery. Current skills in Antenatal, Birthing and Postnatal care, with previous large facility midwifery experience
  3. Demonstrated evidence of being able to provide woman centered care
  4. Demonstrated commitment to professional development
  5. Ability to work a flexible roster, day, evening or night shift across all days of the week and on call availability
  6. Demonstrated effective communication skills – written and verbal
  7. Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work
  8. Demonstrated experience and/or understanding of working with Aboriginal families and their communities
