This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate Registered Midwife to join the Aboriginal Maternal Infant Health Service (AMIHS) in the Macarthur region.
Located on Dharawal land, the Macarthur AMIHS team provides culturally safe, continuity of care maternity services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and women having an Aboriginal baby throughout pregnancy and the early parenting period. Working in partnership with Aboriginal Health Workers, AMIHS supports women, babies and families through a holistic, family-centred model of care that strengthens connections to culture, community and health services.
As an AMIHS Midwife, you will become part of a small, dynamic and highly supportive team committed to improving maternal and infant health outcomes and delivering exceptional woman-centred care.
About The Role
As a Registered Midwife within the AMIHS program, you will work collaboratively with Aboriginal Health Workers and the multidisciplinary team to provide culturally responsive antenatal and postnatal care across community and hospital settings.
You will build meaningful relationships with women and families, supporting them throughout their maternity journey while promoting self-determination, informed decision-making and culturally safe care. This diverse role includes community outreach, home visiting, care coordination, health promotion and advocacy.
The successful applicant will be committed to evidence-based midwifery practice and passionate about improving health outcomes for Aboriginal women, babies and families.
What You'll Be Doing
- Provide culturally safe, evidence-based antenatal and postnatal care to Aboriginal women and women having an Aboriginal baby.
- Work in partnership with Aboriginal Health Workers to deliver continuity of care throughout pregnancy and the postnatal period.
- Build strong therapeutic relationships with women, families and communities through respectful, collaborative care.
- Provide education, advocacy, support and health promotion to women and families.
- Support women to access services that address their social, emotional, cultural and healthcare needs.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, community engagement activities and service development.
- Promote positive maternal and infant health outcomes through culturally responsive and family-centred care.

- Do you have current Authority to Practice as a Registered Midwife with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)? Please attach a copy of your AHPRA registration in your application.
- Describe how your skills and experience align with this role. Include your understanding of factors influencing the health of Aboriginal families and examples of providing woman-centred, culturally responsive maternity care.
Do you have a current Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2)? if you hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
