About the Opportunity

The Recovery Unit at NSW Ambulance is expanding, creating an exciting opportunity to make a real impact. As part of the implementation of our new Workers Compensation Strategy, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to be part of the management of our Workers Compensation Tail Claims portfolio.

In this pivotal role, you will provide specialist technical advice and apply best practice interventions to progress long-term and complex claims, delivering positive outcomes for both the organisation and our people. You will balance strategic oversight with genuine care and compassion for those recovering from injury, supporting their journey towards recovery and return to work.


About You

We are looking for candidates with the below experience and capabilities:

  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of claims management strategies to improve return to work outcomes, especially in the area complex long term claims.

  • Demonstrated understanding of change of goal, vocational redeployment and job seeking strategies within the context of workers compensation.

  • A general passion and empathy for working with people recovering from physical and/or psychological injury, complimented with a knowledge of evidence-based treatment practices to aide this.

  • A comprehensive understanding of workers compensation, injury management return to work ideally in a Healthcare or First Responder context and the commitment to identifying ways to reduce claim duration and cost.

  • High level verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to work effectively with all internal and external stakeholders, influence and drive outcomes and to work as part of a team or independently without supervision.

  • Ability to provide high level advice which is consistent with business goals and strategic objectives.

  • Demonstrated effective time management, prioritisation and decision making skills using strategic thinking for positive outcomes in Return to Work and Injury Management.

  • Sound knowledge of and demonstrated experience in applying the principles of the Workers Compensation Act 1987, Workplace Injury Management and Workers Compensation Act 1998.

  • An enthusiasm for contributing to a team of diverse skill and backgrounds working together for exceptional delivery of service as a business unit.
