About the role:

Step into a dynamic position where no two days are the same! You’ll be working across all imaging modalities, with a primary focus on ultrasound, alongside two other experienced sonographers. You’ll also play an important role in mentoring radiography students and junior staff as they grow into their roles.

This role includes shift work, as our department operates from 7:00 AM to midnight, seven days a week, with overnight on-call coverage.

You won’t be alone - support is always close at hand. Alongside two senior sonographers, including the site manager, you’ll receive thorough orientation and ongoing skills development to help you succeed in your role and grow within the department. We actively support on-site and local educational opportunities, and we’re committed to helping you continue your professional development.

Where you’ll be working:

Surrounded by lush forests, mountain gorges, national parks, and cascading waterfalls - including Wollomombi Falls, one of Australia's tallest waterfalls - Armidale is an idyllic location for nature lovers and adventure seekers. Armidale is easily accessible, being a five-and-a-half-hour drive from Sydney and less than 90 minutes from Tamworth. Daily flights between Sydney and Armidale are also available.

Hunter New England Imaging Armidale is a rapidly expanding medical imaging department serving the New England region of NSW. Our team performs a broad range of examinations for a diverse patient population, managing everything from minor injuries to complex trauma. The Armidale imaging team is at the forefront of expanding knowledge and capabilities across all modalities, with a strong focus on improving patient outcomes and enhancing staff experience.

About you:

We’re looking for a sonographer with a well-rounded skill set across all ultrasound areas (excluding echocardiography). However, if you’re newly qualified and eager to grow, we can provide the support and learning environment to help you advance.

Whether experienced or just starting out, you’ll need to be approachable, confident, and above all, a team player. Your ability to support and collaborate with colleagues will be key to delivering excellent patient care.

Requirements:

  • Recognised Tertiary qualification in Medical Radiation Science (Diagnostic Radiography) or equivalent and Post Graduate Degree as a Sonographer.
  • Eligible for registration with Australian Health Professionals Registration Authority (AHPRA) as a Diagnostic Radiographer
  • Current NSW EPA Radiation licence and current registration under ASAR.
  • Must hold a post graduate diploma in a specialist area of medical imaging deemed relevant to professional practice by HNELHD.
  • Willingness and ability to participate in the Rosters, overtime and on-call duties as required by the site, and which may change from time to time.
  • Current unrestricted driver’s license and the ability and willingness to travel for work purposes which may involve driving long distances.
