Where you’ll be working
You’ll work independently as a child and family psychologist, with strong links to the paediatric-focused teams at Armidale Community Health. This includes close collaboration with the diabetes, dietetics and other allied health teams, as well as paediatricians and child and family health nurses. Together, these teams provide excellent care to the children and families they support.
About the role
As a Psychologist / Senior Psychologist / Clinical Psychologist, you’ll provide varied psychological support to children, young people and families across a broad range of presenting concerns. Your work may include family support for children newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, as well as relationship counselling and other child and family-focused interventions.
This is a role that offers both autonomy and teamwork, with a strong focus on delivering responsive, evidence-based care in partnership with the wider paediatric service. You’ll contribute to positive outcomes by working closely with families and the multidisciplinary team to support wellbeing, adjustment and long-term health.
About you
You are a psychologist who enjoys working with children, young people and families, and you bring experience in this area. You are confident working both independently and as part of a team, with strong communication skills and the ability to build trusted therapeutic relationships.
You bring:
- General registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia via AHPRA.
- Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited postgraduate clinical psychology qualification of no less than two years full-time duration, or recognised equivalent.
- Experience working with children, young people and families.
- The ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- A flexible and compassionate approach to family-focused psychological care.
