About Our Role
Our Provisional Fellow in Cardiology (Electrophysiology) is expected to undertake advanced level training in the cardiac sub-specialty area of Electrophysiology and cardiac device implantation. The Provisional Fellow will have exposure to and training in the full spectrum of EP and CIED procedures under the supervision of specialist cardiologists and develop complex clinical skills to become clinically proficient prior to independent practice. Catheter Laboratory is collocated with a very busy Echocardiography Laboratory and Cardiac Surgical Unit in a Tertiary referral institution.

Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Services is a major teaching hospital and tertiary referral centre based on the Randwick Hospitals Campus. We provide excellent healthcare to SESLHD and specialist health and medical services to NSW. We connect with various universities including the University of New South Wales. We have 450 inpatient beds and almost 3,000 staff. Each year we care for more than 64,000 patients in our Emergency Department and around 50,000 patients are admitted to our Hospital. We also have a busy outpatient service and rural outreach service and provide more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year.

MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category
Completion of Core training in Cardiology (RACP or equivalent) and conferred Fellowship of the RACP
Demonstrated preliminary experience in Electrophysiology, Device Implantation and programming and Transoesophageal Echo and reporting
Advanced ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams, including the sharing of appropriate information internally and externally with key persons or services
Advanced ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise and demonstrate excellent theoretical knowledge and clinical judgement
Advanced verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with other health professionals and demonstrated excellent work practices, such as diligence, punctuality, organization, record keeping and team work
Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
Ongoing commitment to further education and professional development and demonstrated ability to teach, and willingness to participate in the teaching of Medical Students, Junior Medical Staff and other clinical staff, including commitment to enrolment in and completion of a higher degree in research through this institution.
