Provisional Fellow positions are available in Clinical Genetics for up to 12 months for the 2027 Clinical Year, from 01 February 2027 to 06 February 2028.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team within the Clinical Genetics fraternity. Rewarding career opportunities are available across NSW Health and offer a flexible career with a diverse and interesting case mix where medical staff are involved in all aspects of a patient's care.
The positions are available to Advanced Trainees of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) in Paediatrics, Adult Medicine or equivalent recognised colleges in Australasia or overseas. These positions can be recognised for Advanced Training in Clinical Genetics. Applications are welcomed from those interested in a 6-12 month period of clinical genetics training, as an adjunct to training in another sub-specialty or in general paediatrics, as well as those pursuing advanced training in clinical genetics.
Successful applicants will be involved in paediatric, prenatal, adult and specialty outpatient genetics clinics, multidisciplinary meetings and inpatient consultations. Genetics Fellows participate in activities of the NSW Clinical Genetics inter-campus educational programs. Participation in teaching other junior staff is encouraged. Opportunities exist for some clinical research within these positions, subject to availability. The position provides Advanced Trainees with immersive, supported learning of the basic principles of clinical genetics, syndrome diagnosis, genetic testing, counselling and ethical issues relevant to both clinical genetics and broader practice. It will provide the applicant with a unique opportunity to become familiar with the application and interpretation of new genomic testing techniques, increasing in importance for most areas of medical practice with the ongoing integration of genomics into both specialty and mainstream medical care.

Selection Criteria:
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category
- Eligible to registered with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) as an Advanced Trainee or equivalent at commencement of Fellowship
- 3-6 months experience in relevant subspecialty or equivalent preferable
- Completion of mandatory training as required by RACP or equivalent (if applicant registered with RACP) preferable
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with other health professionals
- Ongoing commitment to further education and professional development and demonstrated ability to teach, with a willingness to participate in the teaching of Medical Students, Junior Medical Staff and other clinical staff
- Understanding of research methodology or research experience and a willingness to be involved in research projects
- Demonstrated contribution to the development of hospital services e.g. participation in Junior Staff matters, representation on behalf of the Hospital, participation in Hospital Committees preferable
