The Provisional Fellow position in Paediatric Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at The Children's Hospital at Westmead is available for 12 months from 02 August 2027 to 13 August 2028. The position involves a clinical role within the Department of Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery, as well as a leadership and educational role. This position provides an opportunity to develop skills important for a consultant role in the inpatient and outpatient setting, with the support from the Department of Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery Consultants as needed.
The Fellow also works closely with many of the other clinical teams in inpatient and outpatient care both clinically and strategically. The education role includes clinical supervision within the Department of Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery as well as the hospital wide education program. This Fellowship aims to provide a solid foundation for clinical care and for research in paediatric otolaryngology.

Selection Criteria:
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category
- Registered with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) as an Advanced Trainee or equivalent; or has attained RACS Fellowship in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery or equivalent
- Completion of mandatory training as required by RACS or equivalent preferable
- Sufficient prior experience such that completion of this Paediatric Provisional Fellow Training would permit a reasonable expectation of appointment at a consultant level to a tertiary paediatric ENT surgery unit
- Excellent communication, leadership and teamwork skills with demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with other health professionals
- Ongoing commitment to further education and professional development and demonstrated ability to teach, and willingness to participate in the teaching of Medical Students, Junior Medical Staff and other clinical staff
- Understanding of research methodology or research experience and a willingness to undertake research proposal
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management and contribution to the development of hospital services e.g. participation in Paediatric Junior Staff matters, representation on behalf of the Hospital, participation in Hospital Committees preferable
