What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of the role of the provisional fellow in breast imaging is to provide special focused rotation-based training to develop subspecialty interests in breast imaging, and to further develop core clinical skills required as part of accredited Phase 3 Radiology training. The provisional fellow will be a current Radiology training accredited Trainee in phase 3 of training. 
    
The provisional fellow will provide high quality clinical care, diagnostic and consultative specialty services in breast imaging under supervision and participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the BreastScreen Department and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital as required. They will participate in general Radiology training as required for RANZCR training requirements.  They will ensure high standards of professional performance and contribute to an academic environment which supports education, research, and professional development.  
    
The successful applicants will be appointed as The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists ("RANZCR") accredited Radiology Trainees in a NSW Health Radiology Training Network (ie. Local Area Network or LAN), and will be appointed to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital as the "home hospital", where the successful applicant(s) will be working and training the majority of the time.

  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia.
  2. Currently in phase 3 or anticipate being in phase 3 of RANZCR accredited training at time of commencement.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work independently within a complex health care setting with proven time management, analytical and reasoning skills, and good common routine procedural skills.
  4. Excellent written, verbal and multimedia communication skills, in order to interact effectively with patients, referrers, colleagues and other team members.
  5. Understanding and promotion of collaborative effort and empathy within a heterogeneous team environment such as a radiology department.
  6. Excellent academic record commensurate with experience, evidence of on-going learning, teaching activities, potential involvement with projects and research publications.
  7. Understanding quality improvement principles, audit, implementation of practice improvement initiatives and commitment to continuing professional development.
  8. Demonstrated commitment to undertake and complete the required College training as well as participate in the provisional Breast Imaging fellowship program as part of special focused rotation, as determined by the Head of Department.
