About The Opportunity
Working as a sub-Principal Investigator on gastroenterology clinical trials
Clinical responsibilities:
• Clinical oversight of patients enrolled in gastroenterology clinical trials including medical assessment and trial documentation
Research responsibilities:
• Significant research responsibilities as sub-Principal Investigator for gastroenterology trials
• Recommended enrolment in a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) or a PhD for a formal research qualification
Supervision and training:
• No direct supervision responsibilities
Administration:
• Will need to keep meticulous record keeping on clinical trials software including Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and software provided by pharmaceutical sponsors
Quality improvement:
• The research fellow is required to assist and participate in the development and implementation of Quality Activities particularly auditing of the performance of the trials unit
Other key responsibilities:
• The Hospital provides the research fellow with an email account. It is the trainee’s responsibility to check their email as this is how Hospital Administration and Senior Staff will be communicating relevant information on a daily basis.
• The research fellow will need to work closely with other team members of the Gastroenterology Clinical Trials unit including Principal Investigator, study coordinators and research nurses
• The research fellow will need to liaise externally as needed with clinical research assistants, pharmaceutical sponsors and auditors

Where You'll Be Working
This is a 0.6 FTE research fellow position based in the Campbelltown Hospital Gastroenterology Clinical Trials Unit. Candidates applying for this position should have completed both parts of the FRACP examination. - MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Successful completion of the examination requirements of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and eligible to undertake advanced training
- Excellent theoretical knowledge and clinical judgement.
- Adept ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams, including the sharing of appropriate information internally and externally with key persons or services.
- Advanced verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to vary communication style in line with the understanding of the needs of diverse audiences.
- Prior clinical trials experience is highly desirable including working knowledge of ICH GCP and other regulatory and ethical requirements in the conduct of clinical trials in Australia
- Recommended enrolment in a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) or a PhD for a formal research qualification
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development and self-education, quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
