What you'll be doing
This twelve-month full-time position is ideally suited for a General Paediatric Advanced trainee who is keen to gain experience in all aspects of General Paediatrics as well as hone their skills in Neonatology. The Paediatric Fellow position is an accredited position under the RACP General Paediatric - SAC. The trainee will meet the requirements of General Paediatrics with a perinatal component. This is not a rurally accredited position. Blacktown Mount Druitt Hospital is offering 1.0 FTE Provisional Fellow position to support the Children’s Ward at Mount Druitt Hospital, the Paediatric Ward at Blacktown Hospital, and the Special Care Nursery at Blacktown Hospital. There is a total of 3 Provisional Fellows working within the Department in each Clinical Year. Successful applicants may, depending on research and educational contributions, be eligible to apply for a conjoint position within the University of Western Sydney Medical School.

  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
  2. Registered with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians as an advanced trainee or equivalent.
  3. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
  4. Excellent communication, leadership and teamwork skills with demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with other health professionals.
  5. Ongoing commitment to further education and professional development and demonstrated ability to teach, with a willingness to participate in the teaching of Medical Students, Junior Medical Staff and other clinical staff.
  6. Understanding of research methodology or research experience and a willingness to undertake research proposal
  7. Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent time management, problem solving skills, clinical skills, judgment and expertise
