This is an exciting opportunity to lead the District’s property and asset portfolio, ensuring the effective governance, management and optimisation of land, buildings and associated assets throughout their lifecycle. Working in a strategic and advisory capacity, you will provide expert guidance on property tenure, occupancy and asset-related matters, supporting informed decision-making across the organisation. The role plays a key part in shaping strategic asset planning, influencing capital investment priorities and driving initiatives that enhance asset performance, maximise value and improve service delivery to meet current and future healthcare needs.
Are You the Right Fit?
The ideal candidate is a highly experienced property and asset management professional with strong strategic, operational and stakeholder management capabilities. You will have demonstrated expertise in overseeing diverse property and asset portfolios, including property inspections, management of external property service providers, tenure and occupancy matters, site access control and the resolution of complex property-related issues. With a strong understanding of strategic asset planning and government asset management frameworks, you will lead the delivery of key Ministry requirements, including asset management plans, strategic asset management planning and asset maturity reporting. Your ability to maintain robust asset information systems, oversee comprehensive asset registers and drive district-wide asset lifecycle planning will support evidence-based capital investment and budget decisions. The successful candidate will bring sound financial management skills, including budget development, forecasting and variance reporting, alongside experience in lease and licence administration, risk management, document control and governance compliance. A collaborative and influential communicator, you will confidently represent the District at internal and state-wide committees, providing expert advice and ensuring asset management practices align with organisational objectives, policies and industry best practice.
Selection Criteria
To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.
- Tertiary qualifications in asset and portfolio management, project management and/or equivalent experience with knowledge of legislation, policies and guidelines particularly in relation to property, major investment programs and asset management.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in asset and facility management procedures and facility planning.
- Knowledge of the land title system and the ability to interpret related plans and maps.
- Experience in the planning and management of property acquisition, development and disposal.
- Demonstrated communication and negotiating skills specifically in property management.
- Highly developed written & oral communication skills including the preparation and submission of briefs and reports, ministerial responses and high-level documentation including experience in writing RFQs and tender documentation and evaluations.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills in consulting, influencing, and negotiating with stakeholders to gain their input and commitment to projects.
- Demonstrated problem solving and risk management skills which use creative and imaginative approaches to find innovative solutions to complex issues.
- Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
