Principal Network Architect (Health Manager Level 5)

Join the Team
As a Principal Network Architect, you will be accountable for the statewide network architecture, ensuring it is secure, scalable, resilient, high-performing and aligned to business and clinical technology needs.

In this role, you will:

  • Be accountable for enterprise network architecture across LAN, WAN, data centre, cloud and hybrid networking environments that support current and future business needs.
  • Develop and own long-term network strategy, roadmaps, standards and architectural principles that support technology evolution and organisational priorities.
  • Embed security by design by working with cyber security and infrastructure teams to integrate controls, manage risk and support compliance across network solutions.
  • Assess and influence the adoption of emerging network technologies and trends, including SD-WAN, Zero Trust and cloud-native networking, to improve performance, agility and cost efficiency.
  • Partner with stakeholders across infrastructure, security, application, product and business teams to ensure network solutions meet technical, operational and business requirements.
  • Provide senior technical advice on complex network design and operational issues, acting as an escalation point and trusted advisor for critical projects and initiatives.
  • Lead and mentor technical teams, support good engineering practice, and help deliver high-impact network architecture outcomes in a large and complex ICT environment.

About You
We are looking for someone who:

  • Have substantial experience in network architecture or related disciplines, particularly in large, complex ICT environments.
  • Understand enterprise networking across LAN, WAN, data centre, cloud and hybrid environments, and can translate technical requirements into scalable and supportable architecture.
  • Can design with security, resilience and compliance in mind, working with cyber security and operational teams to manage risk and improve service quality.
  • Are comfortable developing roadmaps, standards, architecture principles and governance approaches that help guide consistent decision-making across an enterprise environment.
  • Can influence and negotiate with senior stakeholders, vendors and technical teams to reach practical, agreed outcomes.
  • Have experience leading or guiding multidisciplinary technical teams, including mentoring others, resolving complex issues and supporting successful project delivery.
  • Bring strong problem-solving and delivery capability, including the ability to work through ambiguity, balance competing priorities and keep outcomes moving.
  • Have qualifications or certification in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience managing large and complex network platforms.
  • Experience in healthcare, clinical technology or similarly regulated environments would be valuable, but is not the only pathway into this role.
