Achieve Something Great
Join the dynamic SWSLHD Women’s Health Clinical Stream team and contribute to improving outcomes for women, babies and families across South Western Sydney. This is an exciting opportunity for an influential midwifery leader to continue the implementation of Pregnancy Connect throughout the Tiered Perinatal Network. The role works closely with midwifery, medical and consumer stakeholders to optimise consultation, transfer and return-transfer pathways for women and babies with pregnancy complexities, supporting safe, coordinated and woman-centred care across the maternity service network.

This rewarding leadership opportunity supports system-wide improvements in maternity care through collaboration, innovation and partnership. Working with the NSW Ministry of Health, Pregnancy Connect Coordinators across the state and a broad range of healthcare stakeholders, the role will help strengthen referral pathways, promote continuity of care and enhance care navigation for women and families accessing maternity services.

Are You the Right Fit?
The successful candidate will be a passionate and strategic midwifery professional with a strong commitment to improving outcomes for women, babies and families. Demonstrated knowledge of referral pathways, maternal and neonatal transfers, care navigation, continuity of care models, digital health systems, data reporting and performance monitoring will be essential. The role requires the ability to translate policy into practice, apply data-driven decision-making and contribute to service improvement initiatives across a complex healthcare environment.

Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and project management skills are essential, together with the ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships across maternity services, child and family health, general practice, NGOs and community organisations. Success in this role will require resilience, adaptability and sound organisational skills, with the capacity to manage competing priorities and complex service delivery challenges while maintaining a strong focus on woman-centred, family-focused care.

Selection Criteria
To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.

  • Current midwifery registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with a minimum of three (3) years full time equivalent post midwifery qualification experience.
  • Describe how your experience has prepared you to coordinate equitable access to maternity and neonatal services across a district, including the safe and timely transfer of women, infants, and families.
  • Describe a time you led a multidisciplinary team to improve a maternity or perinatal service. What was your role and what was the outcome?
  • Provide an example of how you used data or evidence to identify a service need and implement an improvement in maternity or perinatal care.
  • Tell us about a project, service redesign or change initiative you managed. How did you engage stakeholders and ensure its successful implementation?
  • Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
