This is an exciting opportunity to help shape how data is used to improve patient care and service outcomes across South Western Sydney. As part of a collaborative Health Informatics and Analytics team, you will work closely with clinicians, operational leaders and digital teams to deliver meaningful insights that drive informed decision-making. You will design clear, intuitive dashboards that enable teams to understand performance and identify opportunities for improvement, while also contributing to building a consistent and trusted view of data across the organisation. In addition, you will play a key role in supporting and guiding users in adopting analytics tools, helping to build capability, confidence and a strong data-driven culture across the district.
Are You the Right Fit?
The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in Power BI development, including building dashboards, reports and managing workspaces, alongside demonstrated capability in data modelling and data transformation (ETL). You will be proficient in Power Query and DAX, with experience working across enterprise data platforms such as SQL-based systems. With well-developed business analysis skills, you can effectively gather and translate requirements into practical solutions, while your strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills enable you to collaborate confidently with a diverse range of users. You have a user-focused approach to design, creating clear and intuitive dashboards, and possess the ability to translate complex data into meaningful, actionable insights that support informed decision-making.
Selection Criteria
To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.
- Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Information Systems and/or equivalent related experience.
- Describe a time you delivered a dashboard or data solution that led to a measurable improvement in decision-making or service outcomes. What changed as a result?
- Tell us about a situation where stakeholders had unclear or conflicting reporting needs. How did you clarify requirements and ensure the final product met their expectations?
- Demonstrated understanding of the Microsoft BI Stack, including Premium Capacity Services (Power BI Dashboards, Datasets, Dataflows and Azure Data Factory), Enterprise On-premises products (SQL Server Enterprise, SSAS, SSRS and SSIS) and related development languages such as Power Query, DAX, C#.
- Proven experience as a Power BI Developer, with proficiency in creating complex Power BI reports and dashboards which have improved business practice.
- Strong understanding of data modelling concepts and best practices, including experience with data extraction, transformation, and loading processes.
- Experience in business analysis and product design, capturing and interpreting business requirements/ processes, designing and implementing business solutions, with an appreciation of user interface / experience considerations.
Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience and ability to ensure clarity of requirements and satisfaction with delivered solutions.
