Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking a Post Graduate Fellow to join our team at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

  

   

We are looking for a Post Graduate Fellow in Intensive Care! The primary purpose of the role of the Post Graduate Fellow in Intensive Care is to provide program of additional training to develop subspecialty interests in Intensive Care medicine, and to further develop core clinical skills required in this area. The Post Graduate Fellow will have completed advanced training to become a specialist medical practitioner in Intensive Care, or have completed specialist training in another discipline relevant to the Fellowship training program.

The Post Graduate Fellow in Intensive will provide high quality clinical care, diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Intensive Care at the level of a Post Graduate Fellow, and participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Intensive Care Department and RPA Hospital as required. They will ensure high standards of professional performance and contribute to an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development.
   

The Post Graduate Fellow in Intensive Care (ICPGF) is a one year appointment with responsibility for the safe and efficient management of the patients under the care of the Intensive Care Department. The Fellow operates under the supervision of the Director of Intensive Care Services and the Intensive Care Consultants, with a level of delegation that is set by the Head of Department as appropriate to the stage of the professional development that has been reached by the Fellow.

  
The Fellow is responsible for the supervision of the Trainees, Advanced Trainees, Junior Registrars and SRMOs, and for efficient, courteous and collaborative communication with the nursing staff and allied health members of the department and collaborative cooperation with the relevant admitting teams.
  

The Fellow will be rostered on the Intensive Care Specialist roster with appropriate supervision and will be the first point of contact for other departments and primary care teams who wish to consult with the Intensive Care Service. In this role the Fellow will provide prompt response, direct critical care therapy and early communication to the relevant primary care teams.
  

The Fellow is responsible to the Head of Intensive Care for teaching, education, rostering and other non-clinical and quality tasks for the safe and efficient organization of the Department’s primary duties. The Fellow may be called upon to provide appropriate support to other hospitals within the LHD and rural areas in line with the State-wide Critical Care Tertiary referral network.
    
The successful applicant will be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine (FCICM) with recognised qualifications in Intensive Care Medicine and/or other equivalent specialist recognition as provided for in the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award. (Note: Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship prior to, or within three months of the expected commencement date, may be considered.)
    
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Staff Specialist (State) Award.
