The Role
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Physiotherapy Head of Department to lead the physiotherapy service at the Royal Hospital for Women. This pivotal role holds operational accountability for the Physiotherapy Department, reporting operationally to the Director of Nursing and Midwifery and maintaining professional accountability to the Physiotherapy Discipline Advisor.
The successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership, guiding and managing the physiotherapy service to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care. You will champion clinical excellence, support staff development, and drive service improvements aligned with NSW Ministry of Health (MoH) and SESLHD policies, procedures, and standards.

Selection Criteria
- Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award and current registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia and demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning.
- Extensive clinical and leadership experience as a practicing physiotherapist within the area of Women’s Health.
- Demonstrated ability to provide high-level leadership and strategic management of staff, resources, and services to meet current and future clinical service requirements within the contemporary landscape of Women’s Health, with a strong focus on building team capability and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and demonstrated application of evidence-based practice within the physiotherapy discipline.
- Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels.
- Current drivers’ licence (or a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position).
