Where you'll be working
This position offers the opportunity to work in one of NSW’s state spinal cord injury units with the chance to build your skills in the management of people with acute spinal cord injury. You will work both independently and as part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, alongside a level 6, a level 3 and another level 1/2 Physiotherapist; with plenty of opportunity for education and clinical supervision. There is also a great Physiotherapy network across Royal North Shore Hospital who are committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care in a range of services. You will have the opportunity for experience in other areas alongside this collaborative team.
What you'll be doing
You will be providing Physiotherapy care for people with new and established spinal cord injury. This involves acute post-injury care, early mobilisation, respiratory management and commencement of rehabilitation and seating. You will be well supported within a team of 4 Physiotherapists providing care across an eighteen-bed ward and to outlying areas. Education is a key focus, with opportunities to engage in ongoing training, professional development and mentoring within this highly specialised field. Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Qualifications recognised for registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia.
- Demonstrated postgraduate clinical experience applicable to acute hospital physiotherapy. Demonstrated current clinical knowledge of Spinal Cord Injury physiotherapy especially acute care, and a high level of physiotherapy intervention skills in the management of acute and chronic conditions.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and complete activities (including ability to work within scope of practice and seek assistance when required) and demonstrated computer literacy skills.
