Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides tertiary referral services in emergency care, coronary care, diagnostics, gynaecology, paediatric, neonatal intensive care/ICU, maternity, mental health, rehabilitation, and surgery. An opportunity has become available for a qualified Pharmacy Technician to join the Nepean Pharmacy team on a Permanent Full Time basis. The Nepean Pharmacy Department provides a comprehensive pharmacy service to patients during their admission to hospital and for those attending outpatient clinics. The dedicated pharmacy team work collaboratively to provide medications in a safe and timely manner with a focus on patient-centred care.

Within this Pharmaceutical role you will be responsible to the Director of Pharmacy for the provision of a safe, efficient and effective distribution of pharmaceuticals to wards and departments and providing assistance in the preparation of manufactured sterile and non-sterile products and dispensing of prescriptions and associated clerical duties. Key to your success is effectively communicate with fellow workers and hospital staff and willingness to work co-operatively in a team manner.

What you will bring to the role

  1. Successfully completed a qualification in a relevant field recognised by the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia or up to the level of Certificate III issued by a Registered Training Organisation in Hospital and community Pharmacy (eg Charles Sturt University) or has qualifications deemed by the Health Administration Corporation to be equivalent or successfully completed a nationally recognised Pharmacy Technician Certificate Course at Certificate Level IV or has qualifications deemed by the Health Administration Corporation to be equivalent.
  2. Demonstrated ability to work in a busy environment and possess good time management skills.
  3. Demonstrated ability to integrate well with the other staff working as part of the team.
  4. Demonstrated good attention to detail and high level of accuracy in work output.
  5. Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  6. Previous Australian Hospital Pharmacy experience preferred.
