Where You’ll Be Working
John Hunter Hospital is a leading Level 6 tertiary referral hospital and a key hub for complex care across NSW. As the pilot site for the NSW Single Digital Patient Record, the campus is at the forefront of digital transformation in healthcare.
With a major redevelopment nearing completion, you’ll work in a modern, state-of-the-art Pharmacy Department designed to support innovation and collaboration. The service is underpinned by a strong, collegiate culture, with established partnerships with the University of Newcastle and Hunter Medical Research Institute.
The department operates a well-established team-based model, supporting an accredited residency program alongside active involvement in quality improvement and research.
About the Role
Join a dynamic and high-performing Pharmacy Department at one of NSW’s busiest hospitals. This role offers the opportunity to combine your clinical expertise with a strong focus on patient-centred care.
You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams across a variety of clinical areas, delivering comprehensive ward-based pharmacy services. The role focuses on maintaining excellence in patient care through evidence-based practice, while contributing to service improvement and risk management initiatives.
You’ll also play a key role in mentoring junior pharmacists and technicians, with opportunities to be involved in research, innovation, and ongoing professional development.
About You
Registered Pharmacist with AHPRA, with no conditions on registration
Demonstrated experience and sound knowledge of hospital pharmacy practice
Ability to meet, or be working towards, Grade 2 Pharmacist requirements under the Award
Support & Development
You’ll be part of a structured, team-based clinical service where support from experienced senior pharmacists is embedded, regardless of your rotation.
As a pilot site for the NSW Single Digital Patient Record, you’ll gain exposure to leading-edge digital systems. Strong academic links provide opportunities to pursue postgraduate study, while the department also offers credentialled residency programs through AdPha.

Proof of eligibility for registration with AHPRA (Pharmacy)
Demonstrated ability to meet the criteria for a Grade 2 Pharmacist under the Health Employees' Pharmacists (State) Award

- An eligibility list will be created for future permanent full or part time and temporary full or part time vacancies.
- This position is full time; however, part time/job share arrangements may also be considered.
