Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above position in the Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD). This position will be located at Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals and reports to the General Manager.
The successful applicant will:
Provide strategic and operational leadership within BMDHs ensuring the delivery of relevant programs in a safe, quality, effective and efficient manner.
Facilitate linkages across the BMDH hospital clinical, quality, workforce, allied health and nursing, representing clinical and medical issues to improve health service provision.
Provide general medical administration and professional governance support to Network Clinical Directors, BMDH Medical Advisors and Heads of Departments
Interviews for this position are scheduled to take place on the week of 2 June 2025, with confirmation of interview times and venue to be provided in writing to shortlisted applicants.
Essential Requirements for Appointment
1. Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators, and/or other specialist recognition as provided for in the Staff Specialist (State) Award, and/or working towards FRACMA and/or other post graduate qualifications that are appropriate and pertinent to the function of the role.
2. Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency.
3. Extensive experience in policy development and review, and program development, implementation, and evaluation, with ability to apply valid research methods to public policy and programs.
4. Advanced oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, to interact effectively with staff, managers and external stakeholders, make effective presentations and prepare, review and edit correspondence, briefings, reports, papers and proposals.
5. Demonstrated high level time-management and organisational skills and capacity to deliver high quality products within agreed timeframes including ability to delegate effectively and to contribute to the success of others.
6. Demonstrated experience in strategic workforce planning, including proven ability to implement contemporary workforce models that adapt to changing models of service delivery, as well as successful participation in leading staff through a large capital expansion project involving complex change management.
Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Staff Specialists (State) Award.
The successful candidate may be graded under the CMO and Clinical Superintendent award if appropriate.

4. Demonstrated understanding and ability to lead clinical governance, clinical risk management and continuous quality improvement management strategies within a complex operating environment.
5. Demonstrated high capability in communication, complex negotiation, consultative and interpersonal skills, incorporating the ability to liaise and consult with all levels of the health industry, the community and various professional groups.
6. Demonstrated ability to lead, persuade and negotiate at a senior management level to achieve a set of objectives, maintain organisational strategy and to ensure alignment with operational activity.
7. Experience managing a large and diverse team, developing effective culture and engagement, inspiring commitment and developing capacity.
8. Demonstrated commitment to Education, Training and Research, as applicable to the position.
