About our Role:

Are you passionate about patient care and enjoy working in a fast-paced hospital environment? We're seeking a dedicated and organised Patient Support Officer to join our team at John Hunter Hospital in our G3 which is the Cardiology and Gastroenterology Ward. As the first point of contact on the ward, you’ll play a vital role in supporting patients, families, and clinical staff to ensure smooth ward operations and exceptional care delivery.

  • Manage ward transfers and patient discharges

  • Collate and distribute morning reports and relevant documentation

  • Organise patient charts upon discharge, ensuring correct order and filing

  • Deliver charts to Central Information Department (CID)

  • Order stationery and medical forms for the ward

  • Maintain up-to-date patient and ward information

  • Communicate with patients and families professionally and compassionately

  • Assist with DMR (Digital Medical Records) processes

  • Update admission details as requested by clinical staff

  • Working Days will be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 

 

About You 

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities
  • Confidence in dealing with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in data handling
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in using hospital systems (training provided if needed)
  • Previous administrative or hospital experience desirable
