What you'll be doing
The Patient Representative has high level responsibility for promoting, improving and supporting clinical excellence through ensuring the implementation of system and individual improvement strategies identified as part of the timely, open and responsive management of consumer feedback. The Patient Representative provides advocacy to promote the dignity and autonomy of patients in the health care setting and provides a specific channel through which consumers may seek resolution to problems, concerns and complaints. In addition the service provides information and support to patients, their relatives and friends; it promotes the provision of optimum care by recommending change to improve the quality of care and services; and it promotes and represents patient and staff rights and responsibilities. It is also responsible in collaboration with HKHS staff for the coordination of delegated National Standards tasks and functions and co-ordinates the feedback appointments and associated open disclosure documentation following a critical clinical incident.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in health and/or recent significant experience in an acute health environment.
- Proven excellent patient complaints management and customer service skills and experience including experience in high level investigation, negotiation and conciliation and strong patient advocacy and problem-solving/conflict resolution skills and experience.
- Demonstrated involvement in quality improvement, including experience with National Standards implementation, and experience in reporting and analysing data.
