About the Service
Join our newly established Hunter Specialist Palliative Care Service, working alongside a dedicated multidisciplinary team of Nursing and Allied Health professionals. This service is committed to delivering compassionate, person-centred palliative and end-of-life care to patients, families, and carers across the region.
With a new Muswellbrook Community Health facility opening in July 2026, this is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing and evolving service. You will also be supported by a wider administrative network across Singleton, Muswellbrook, Cessnock, Maitland and Kurri Kurri Community Health sites.
About the Role
As an Administrative Officer Level 3, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Hunter Specialist Palliative Care Service. Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) – Hunter Valley Community Health, you will provide high-level administrative and clerical support to nursing and allied health teams across multiple sites.
Your work will directly support clinicians in delivering high-quality care by ensuring efficient coordination, communication, and organisation of services.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive administrative support to clinical teams
Coordinate and book home visits, appointments, and support groups
Liaise with patients, families, and carers with professionalism and empathy
Maintain accurate electronic patient records and documentation
Manage fleet vehicles, supplies, and ordering processes
Assist the NUM with rostering and workforce coordination
Respond to enquiries and support service coordination across multiple sites
Work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team environment
About You
You are a highly organised and compassionate professional who thrives in a dynamic healthcare environment. You bring strong administrative expertise and a calm, respectful approach when supporting patients, families, and colleagues - particularly in sensitive situations.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Proven ability to plan, prioritise, and manage workload independently
Strong proficiency in computer systems, software, and electronic records
Experience with transcribing software and medical terminology (or demonstrated competency)
Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and telephone)
Ability to work collaboratively across teams and multiple sites
High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality
Demonstrated ability to support coordination of services and workflows
