The John Hunter Hospital PICU is a 7-bed specialist unit caring for critically unwell children with complex medical, surgical, respiratory, neurological and trauma-related conditions. Develop your expertise in advanced respiratory support, invasive monitoring and intensive care therapies while working with a highly skilled team.

Make an impact every shift
 

As a PICU Registered Nurse, you’ll provide specialised, compassionate care to critically unwell children and their families.

You’ll:

  • Provide specialised care to children with complex medical, surgical and critical care needs.
  • Use advanced skills in respiratory support, invasive monitoring and intensive care therapies.
  • Apply strong clinical judgement to recognise changes and respond quickly.
  • Work collaboratively with paediatric intensivists and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Support children and families through compassionate, family-centred care.

Bring your expertise and passion
 

You’re a motivated Registered Nurse with a passion for paediatric critical care and a commitment to delivering safe, high-quality care.

You’ll bring:

  • PICU experience and confidence caring for critically ill children.
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Experience with respiratory support, invasive monitoring and complex therapies.
  • A commitment to evidence-based practice and ongoing professional development.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends and public holidays.
     

Essential Criteria:

  • Current Authority to Practise as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
