Where you'll be working
Join the Prevention, Early Intervention and Recovery Service (PEIRS) at Cumberland Hospital, North Parramatta, part of Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD). PEIRS is a specialist community-based mental health service supporting children and young people aged 12–24 years experiencing moderate to severe and persistent mental illness, developmental trauma and neurodevelopmental challenges.

What you'll be doing
As an Occupational Therapist, you'll deliver high-quality, evidence-based assessment and intervention to improve occupational performance and support meaningful recovery for children and young people. You'll work collaboratively with consumers, families and community partners while contributing to innovative therapeutic programs that promote resilience and long-term wellbeing.
Provide comprehensive occupational therapy assessment, intervention, care coordination and recovery planning for young people with complex mental health needs.
Design, facilitate and evaluate individual and group therapy programs, partnering with community organisations to deliver engaging recovery-focused activities.
Work closely with families, carers, schools, GPs, NGOs and multidisciplinary teams to support holistic, person-centred care.
Promote recovery, early intervention and community participation while maintaining accurate clinical documentation and evidence-based practice.
Contribute to student supervision, quality improvement, clinical research and ongoing service innovation.

Essential Requirements:
Qualification: Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
Registration: AHPRA Occupational Therapist – general registration
Selection Criteria:
Recognised Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Demonstrated clinical experience in providing mental health and occupational therapy assessment and intervention to young people with a mental health problem in a community setting.
Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with families, other relevant agencies, such as schools, community services and NGOs to provide effective collaborative intervention for consumers.
An understanding of the recovery philosophy and trauma informed care in Mental Health and the ability to implement these within clinical practice
Experience in developing, facilitating and evaluating group therapy programs in line with occupational therapy goals.
Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team within a community setting.
Highly developed and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Current Drivers Licence valid within Australia
